EQUIFAX HACK

9/8/2017

Equifax, Inc., one of the three main credit reporting companies, announced yesterday that its data files were hacked between May and July of this year, and that up to 143 million consumers may have been affected by the hack.  The hackers obtained people’s names, addresses, SSNs, birthdates and driver’s license numbers.

The company has set up a website, www.equifaxsecurity2017.com, that consumers can use to determine whether their information was compromised.  Click on the "Potential Impact" button at the bottom of the page to find out.  Equifax is also offering free credit-file monitoring and identify-theft protection.

The same link above provides more information about the hack.
